Translating Place
This body of work focused on the idea of place. The intent was to put forth an understanding/representation of an environment / place that did not rely on the Western conventions of representation which use the illusion of recessive space for a physical description - but rather addressed the phenomenological structure of perception and the relationships formed between our physical experience, consciousness and sub-consciousness relative to place.
This body of work is large scale (6ft x 10ft, 10 ft x 8 ft, 6.5ft x9.5 ft) multi-panel oil paintings on canvas produced in 1996-7.
